What does it mean to be “me”?
seems like some formula
with an outcome between what i wish and what is expected
by society
but what is expected anymore?
the bar is so low
does it depend on what you call home?
where you come from?
but that’s where and what not WHO
how does one just get to be a YOU?
i guess you’d have to know who YOU are
how you feel
what you want to say
how youre inclined to react in any given situation
or where you’d put yourself
who you’d stand with
when you need to speak out with passion
How outspoken
when would you decline
defer
disagree and be vocal or
type instead of speak the words
make a joke that makes you laugh
hope others join in
being candid
honest
casual
open
use your own voice
skip the gender-affected pitch
your parents wore
even if it sounds less delicate
less sophisticate,
harder
maybe its ok to be “weird”
see things differently
and say so
the ones you want standing by
respect your clarity or genuine dismay
the rest can fuck right off
and when they do fade away
you don’t have the urge to follow
what if the real you
sang out loud
